Why do so many people support the war in the Middle East?

I personally think that we should end the war, and even apologize to our enemies. Now you may be thinking, "Apologize? These people attacked us/each other!" As for attacking us, the afforementioned thought, while conclusive, is very incomplete. Think about it. They attacked us because they hate us. They hate us because they think we're evil. They think we're evil because we have a powerful military, and we love to use it. We are the second most hated country in the world, according to international surveys. Meanwhile, France has had little to no military involvement with anyone in the past couple of decades, and according to international surveys, almost everyone loves France! EVEN GERMANY LOVES FRANCE! The way I see it, the only nation that needs a military is the nation that uses a military. And as far as the people of the middle east fighting themselves, we should have let the UN decide what to do about it, and then helped the UN do it. At least we would have less enemies that way.

Why do so many people support the war in the Middle East?
The French has deployed the Foriegn Legion on more then one occassion in the 1980 and 1990's to Africa for various reasons. The U.S. is the most powerful country in the world at this time; that is why people don't like us in general. That is true historically for who ever is the main power or powers whether is was Great Britian, the Soviet Union before the break up, the Roman Empire was not well loved outside of it's borders. Bin Laden, his followers and other that think like him hate us because we are not Muslim and they hate many other Muslims because they don't pratice the same fundementalistic brand that they do. They do not hate us for using our military-they have not yet destroyed us because of our military. SgtMaj Canfield USMC once said that when America becomes to civilized to fight then it will fall to the barbarians who aren't. As for France; it is a second tier country in terms of tactical military and outside of the French Foriegn Legion does not have an extended external military capacity and they could do that because the U.S. and NATO protected them during the Cold War-France withdrew from NATO because they would not allow French soldiers to be commanded by non-French officers, in other words they through a temper tanatrum because NATO wouldn't agree to make the senior military officer French. They knew that because the country was surrounded by NATO countries it would be safe from external threats. No country in existence has no military-not the Swiss who have a huge (by percent of population), well armed, well trained reserve and they are just that well trained and armed and keep most of the weapons in there homes (Yes Assualt Rifles and ammo) or Sweden which has a first rate military. The U.N. is honestly an organization paralyzed by its own rules and for it to decide anything useful or in any way controversial is almost impossible. What has the U.N. actually done since the Korean War that has worked? The U.N. action in Korea was possible only because the Russians were boycotting the meetings over another issue and could not veto it, if they had attended they would have veto'd and nothing would have been done about that.

Reply:Your head is not screwed on fully. We did not use our military against them, until they attacked us. The twin towers were hit because they were a symbol of the western world. They hit us because we don't follow their religious beliefs.





Nobody likes France, especially Germany and they have had a lot of military involvement in places like Africa and yes, the gulf.





As far as trusting the UN, we tried and they have failed in every mission.

Reply:first off, if i read your deduction correctly, you think that they hate us because wer're evil because our militlary is strong. that's not really accurate. bin laden and other extremists don't hate us for that reason. the reason that they hate us is because of the following. 1)United states support of Israel 2)United States spread of popular culture (which is very much not appreciated in muslim countries), 3)United states troops based in the holy land. Mecca is the "be all and end all" of all things in the islamic religion. the fact that we have troops based in saudi arabia (home country for mecca) makes them very upset. it doesn't matter how strong or weak the military is, they feel that it interfears with Allah and that our troops are not welcome.
