I think I would...but then I stop and second guess myself.
People say on a regular basis you should never hate anyone, because the emotion is so strong.
Love is an equally strong emotion, and people get absolutely CRUSHED by love everyday, but yet it is encouraged. Now, don't take this the wrong way, as I believe love is incredible, and we need to have it.
What are you thoughts??
As always, Thank you all for taking the time.
Survey:: Would you say to love is the exact opposite of to hate...??
Hi
I believe everyone carries their own idea of what "LOVE" should be as they do with the word "HATE".
It's all semantics....
Polite society refers to both words as a reference of a feeling a certain way about something or someone.
Could you imagine hearing your mother say to your pop "Honey, I simply lust you!"....lol
Which is another point. People use the wrong words to describe their feelings for another and a lot of relationships suffer in the end.
There is a huge difference between lets say "LUST" and "Love". If more people could have been up front or had even known what lust had meant to begin with, the divorce rates would not be so high.
Both words are used to keep everyone on the same page when defining or communicating a feeling from one person to another. To me - there are no words to describe "Love" and "hate" adequately.
Reply:This is an interesting question.
I believe that hate is a waste of energy, so I try not to do it.
However, I do not believe the same as love; i believe love is a necessity. And as you duly pointed out, sometimes being crushed by love hurts more than being hated.
As far as whether the two are opposites... I don't think so. Personally I think hate is just people saying they are too lazy to dislike... or people saying they want to waste energy. Hate is also harmful to the health and well-being of people in the long run.
Reply:There is actually a very fine line between love and hate. Both are very strong emotions. To hate someone or something requires a lot of energy, just like love.
I cannot think of anyone or anything that I actually hate, but there are a couple of people that I feel total indifference about. To me, not caring one way or the other is the opposite of love.
Reply:well both loving and hating someone usually requires you to obsess about the person to some extent. but i think love generally causes more emotional pain than hate. i think its fine to hate people if you have a legit reason.
i believe love is the opposite of hate it makes sense. love your obsessed with someone because you like them so much and care so much about them. hate your obsessed because you dislike them so much and wish them badly. i think a good opposite that would work for both is indifference. not caring at all is a fine opposite as well.
Reply:I would have to say that love and hate are not direct opposites. For instance, I love my husband, but for a long time before we really got together I thought he was the biggest jerk to walk the face of the earth. I did hate him for a while after we broke up the first time. When we started dating again, some of that was mixed up in the love.
As for never hating anyone, that's a nice goal but it's a pipe dream.
Reply:i agree with you. but i think that sometimes, hate is fueled by love. for example, an ex. if someone loved a girl, and they broke up, and he had hard feelings over it, and he says he hates her guts, maybe its because he loved her in the first place. what i mean is, possibly the to go hand in hand, and we don't realize it.
Reply:Not for me, I don't waste any energy hating as I do on love. I am in love, I mean really in love for the first time in my life (35). This is way different than the first two times, I was in 'love". Maybe third time IS a charm like they say.
Hating is just waste of time for me.
Reply:love : hate :: strong : weak
u can have both at the same time.
love is to hate as strong is to weak.
u can be both weak and strong at the same time.
my opinion.
Reply:... it is not love that does the crushing, but the loss of love. Love in its purest form could be the opposite of hate in its purest form?
Hmm. Now you made me think.
Reply:first off, I was told by someone long ago: love is not the opposite of hate, indifference is. If u hate them,u still care enough to hate them. I like indifference. It means you couldn't care less.
Reply:basically i agreed with u,but if u think deeper in ur heart, there's no hatred except love bcoz love is given n foregiven.control ur emotion in case of any frustration.
Reply:I both love someone AND hate someone and I'm perfectly find. My thoughts are... Stop thinking about it. You'll just confuse yourself.
As always, thank you for asking the question.
Reply:love and hate r derived from the same emotion
u can not hate w/out feelings of love
pretty interesting aint it?
Reply:so really, love is hate, and hate is love?
Reply:no I would say you are a dang hippie
Reply:i wish i had a good enough answer for this, because this is very interesting!
